Dr Kamalavelu Velayutham

Course Leader, MSc in Supply Chain Management

Kamala is a Senior Lecturer in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. She has an undergraduate degree in Computer Science and Engineering from India, Master's from Manchester Metropolitan University and a PhD from the University of Bolton.

Kamala teaches Operations Management, Logistics and Supply Chain Management and Project Management across various programmes at UCLan.

Her passion for teaching has helped her discover creative areas of pedagogy on inclusion of play in teaching.

Her research focuses on the application of digitalisation techniques and entrepreneurial orientation of supply chain in both manufacturing and service sector organisations.

Career highlights

  • Collaborating with researchers in the UK and UAE and presenting papers in various conferences such as British Academy of Management, Logistics Research Network, Advanced HE and engineering conferences

  • Working as a learning technology advisor in JISC CETIS

  • Teaching in a variety of FE and HE programmes

  • Becoming a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA)

  • Becoming a committee member of Logistics Research Network Forum
