Michelle is a Society of Human Resources Management Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP). 

Her educational and professional background includes law, business administration, urban agriculture, and food systems. Michelle is a Penn State Master Gardener and certified Food Safety Modernization Act grower-producer.

In addition, she received training in good agricultural practices (GAP), urban orchard care, urban tree canopy and community gardens, including design and management. 

Qualifications

Michelle holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics, a Master of Science in Information Systems and a Master of Human Resources Management.  

Research interests

These include employee relations and employee retention in small and/or under-resourced organisations, as well as internal training and development programs and privacy in larger enterprises.  

Career highlights

  • Working for multinational corporations and nonprofits in the US using her analytical and business skills.

  • Working as an experienced faculty member and adjunct professor at US universities, teaching courses in HRM, management, sustainability, horticulture, food systems, and systems analysis.  

  • Being an executive board member and officer in the nonprofit sector. More recently she was the Diaspora Liaison Officer on Health & Agriculture for a medical centre in Ghana, Africa.
